I went to see BANKS perform at her London show at the Roundhouse in Camden. Of course I wrote about it for MTV so have a read…
In September last year LA singer-songwriter BANKS released her second studio album, The Alter, and now she’s showcasing it with three special shows here in the UK.
Having already completed her gigs in Manchester and Glasgow it was now the turn of London to witness her live show, and oh my god were we impressed.
BANKS has always been well received here in the UK, and she often mentions how her music first took off this side of the pond. This fondness was reflected by the crowd at the Roundhouse in London last night where she played the last of her two sold out shows in the UK.
She’s currently touring with her critically acclaimed second album, The Alter, and her set last night consisted of songs from this new record as well as those from her debut LP, Goddess. Highlights from the show included ‘Trainwreck’, crowd favourite ‘Beggin’ For Thread’ and the dark and dramatic ‘Judas’, made even more moody by the red lighting.
Fans of BANKS will know of her theatrical music videos and creative control over all the visuals that assist her music and the live show is no different. With her signature jerky dance moves and two stunning backing dancers the show was instantly elevated to another level. This alongside the dramatic lighting made it appealing to all the senses.
Overall we can’t wait for BANKS to be back in the UK for more shows. Until then, we’re going to be listening to The Alter on repeat.
